Magnitude 7.6 earthquake in Mexico: Third on the same date, but in different years

A magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck Mexico on Monday. Authorities said 2 people were killed, many buildings were destroyed and power was cut.

Material damage is numerous, including a hospital.

The coincidence is that the earthquake was recorded on the same day as 2 devastating earthquakes recorded earlier.

Thousands of people lost their lives in the September 19, 1985 earthquake and more than 350 more died in the September 19, 2017 earthquake.
