It turns out they have to pay Chelsea, Man United City if they want Leaon

After Chelsea and Manchester City, Manchester United are now being linked with a January transfer for Rafael Leao as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The winger is tied to the San Siro giants until June 2024 and negotiations over a new deal have dragged on for months.

His wage demands of €9 million a season will certainly not be overturned, as he scored his first World Cup touch for Portugal.

That goal also raised his profile further and ESPN claim Leao is now shortlisted with Holland’s Cody Gakpo at Manchester United.

The Premier League side need a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who terminated his contract by mutual consent this week. It would be an intriguing situation, as Leao is also looking to replace the 37-year-old in the Portuguese’s starting XI for this tournament in Qatar.

Along with his wage demands, Leao’s price tag has also increased with his World Cup performances, so it would be a minimum of €125 million.
