The situation in the flooded parts of Italy is still dramatic, especially in the Emilia-Romagna region, where a major flood wave has engulfed Cezena, after the river Savio overflowed and flooded roads.
Many people climbed onto roofs and the highest parts of houses, but some remained stuck in their entrances.
Among them is a mother with a little girl, who asked for help after she couldn’t get out of the entrance, as the water in that part of the road was over a meter.
Some people jumped into the water and managed to escape, as can be seen in the video from social networks. The water was up to the waist, and in some places even higher.
When neighbors saw a helpless woman with a child calling for help, they ran through the water and some even swam across the street.
They reached the woman and a man took the baby from the woman’s arms and put it on his shoulder. Her mother followed her. At that moment, the water was almost up to their shoulders. The baby was brought to safety and people helped the frightened woman through the water.
According to the latest report, at least eight people have died and thousands have been evacuated from their homes after devastating floods hit Italy’s northern Emilia Romagna region, authorities said today, warning that the situation could worsen.
