Toyota Motor Corp. said it would suspend all domestic factory products from March 1, losing about 13,000 cars after a company supplying plastic parts and electronics was hit by a suspected cyber attack.
Meanwhile there is still no information on who is behind the attack or the motive. The attack comes shortly after Japan joined Western allies in imposing economic sanctions on Russia over its occupation of Ukraine.
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said his government would investigate the incident and whether Russia was involved. The outage comes as the world’s largest carmaker is tackling worldwide supply chain disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic that has forced it and other carmakers to suspend production.
