American tech giant Apple is preparing to no longer recognize older iPhone models. The MacRumors site claims to have seen an internal report from the company stating that some of the older iPhone models will not work.
The model in question is the iPhone 6 Plus, which is expected to join Apple’s “obsolete” list on December 31.
In fact, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6Plus models, as well as the iPhone 6S are among the best-selling Apple in history after their first introduction in 2015. Millions of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models have been sold by Apple and are among most popular.
The iPhone 6 is said to be functional and will continue to be recognized by Apple until 2023, while the iPhone 6 Plus does not seem to have the same fate.
According to Apple’s program, models that no longer have the support of the company, are initially classified in the “Vintage” list, which means that it becomes very difficult to find parts or make repairs for this model.
This period usually lasts 2 years and then the device is classified by Apple as “outdated” and terminates all software support for it, which means that this model can not receive system updates, not all applications will work , will not have the same protection from cyber attacks etc.
The latest iPhone operating system, iOS 15, can only be installed on iPhone 6S devices and later.
